They Decoded the Thoughts You Never Spoke

Read this with your eyes open.
You have a voice that no one has ever heard. The one inside. The words you think but never say — the running speech of your own mind, the place you assumed was yours alone, sealed, private, witnessed by no one.
In June 2024, a company read it. Not memorized words. Not a wire in the skull. Free-form, flowing, imagined speech — the inner monologue — decoded into text by an AI, from a headset worn on the outside of the head.
What this document is
This is not theology. It is a press release. A startup announcing a milestone, written to be quoted by journalists, vouched for by scientists who came out of Neuralink and DARPA. It does not believe it is describing anything spiritual. It thinks it is describing the future of how we will type.
Read it for what it documents. The inner room has a door, and someone just opened it from the other side.
What the document records
A company called MindPortal built an AI model named MindSpeech. The names attached are not anonymous — former Neuralink and DARPA scientists, university professors, signed a statement standing behind it.
The claim is specific. Earlier attempts could only catch memorized words, or required surgery inside the skull. This one read continuous, free-form imagined speech — a person silently thinking a sentence of their own making — and turned it into text, using a headset worn on the outside, no surgery at all.
The method is in the record. Participants silently imagined hundreds of sentences. A near-infrared headset read the activity across the whole head. The signals were fed into a large language model, which generated the words the person was only thinking. It worked, at a statistically significant level, for three of the four people tested.
The document is honest about the limits. It is preliminary. It is still under peer review. It is not ready for the world. But the threshold has been crossed and they said so plainly: for the first time, a machine read the speech a person never spoke aloud.
What Scripture said about the inner room
The world believed the inside of a man was the one place no one could reach. Scripture never believed that. It says, from the beginning, that the thought was never private — that there has always been One who reads it.
“For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.”
Before it reaches the tongue. The word still inside, unspoken, only imagined — and already known. David did not find that comforting because it was small. He found it overwhelming because it was total. There is a reading of the inner man that has always existed, and it belongs to God.
“I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways.”
That is the claim Scripture has made for three thousand years. The heart is searched. The inner speech is read. The man is known from the inside. The world called it a comfort or a myth and mostly forgot it.
And now a machine does a shadow of it. Reads the unspoken sentence off the surface of a skull and prints it on a screen.
What the shadow proves
Hold the two side by side. A company announces, as the breakthrough of the age, that it can read the speech you never spoke. Scripture announced the same reading as a settled fact before the first page of the New Testament — except theirs is partial, preliminary, three of four, and His is total.
The machine is the shadow. The shadow proves the substance. Men have spent a fortune and called in scientists from Neuralink and DARPA to build a faint, external copy of a thing Scripture says God has always done perfectly, from the inside, for free. You do not counterfeit what was never real. The forgery is the proof of the original.
And it asks the reader the only question that matters. If your inner speech can be read — and it can, the receipts are below — then the privacy you trusted was never absolute. The question is no longer whether you are read. It is who is reading, and what you would say if you knew the inner room was never sealed.
The thought was never yours alone. Scripture said so first. Read it with your Bible open to Psalm 139. The signs are all around us.
“Major Breakthrough in Telepathic Human-AI Communication” — an August 2024 announcement from MindPortal, distributed by PR Newswire, reporting MindSpeech: an AI model that decoded continuous imagined speech into text non-invasively, with results for three of four participants. Preliminary, peer-review stage, backed by former Neuralink and DARPA scientists.
